The Women in Arts, a 22 event Arts Festival is being presented under the aegis of SAMA Arts Network with three outstanding female artists, Sonia Sabri - Kathak, Pallavi Anand – Bharat Natyam and Katrina Rute – Odissi will perform.

As a progressive, cosmopolitan organisation, SAMA believes artistic opportunities and participation catalyse equality and human development. The arts of South Asia are exceptionally male-dominated, given the inherently patriarchal framework of sub-continental cultures.

Indrani Datta is a Kathak dancer from the Lucknow Gharana having trained under Sushmita Ghosh, Saswati Sen, Rani Khanum, and Pt Birju Maharaj. She has choreographed major pieces for the British Museum, V&A Museum and for Queen Elizabeth's Jubilee.

Pallavi Anand forayed into Bharatanatyam at the young age of five under the tutelage of her mother Smt. Shalini Shivashankar. She was the winner of YUVA 2016, the South Asian Youth Dance competition organised by Akademi and has performed along with her mother on various stages in the UK, India, Canada and Latvia.

Katrina Rute is the resident Odissi teacher at The Bhavan (Kelucharan Mohapatra's Gharana). a versatile dancer trained in several Indian classical dance styles: Kathak, Bharatnatyam and Odissi. She learned Odissi with Anette Pooja, Swapnokalpa Dasgupta and Urbi Basu and has performed across the world.

P.S. There will be an interval of 15 min each between the 3 performances.
