THE BHAVAN’S HALF TERM ACTIVITY – 2024

During the February Half Term 2024, The Bhavan, London, organised introductory Arts activities for children.
The first was ‘Exploring the Sound in Indian Music’ for kids between 5 – 10 years of age.
The children had an opportunity to be introduced to Hindustani vocal, and to the instruments of Tabla, Karnatic Violin, and Mridangam with the Bhavan’s resident teachers.
Accompanied by their parents, they tried the instruments, vocals, learn the basics of what each instrument and genre signified, and had the chance to talk to the teachers and ask them any questions they had.

The second was ‘Exploring Movement and Storytelling on Krishna’ for children aged 4-6 years. It was a great opportunity for the children to explore communication through movement, how to tell a story through gestures, and to explore characterisation through the stories and enactment of ‘Krishna’.

It was a new venture for The Bhavan, with the intention o trying to inculcate a curiosity and interest in Indian Classical Arts in children of younger age groups. Both activities proved to be successful; with all sessions being sold out.
The Bhavan hope to have more such introductory, interactive and creative sessions for children
